melissas-shoes.jpgAt Edgewood we use both Windows and Macintosh computer platforms. Why Macs you ask? Kids at Edgewood have learned to switch between platforms with ease, so whether they decide to become a graphic designer, video editor or computer programmer, they have confidence in working with both platforms. Another bonus is that every Mac comes with iLife, a suite of software that we like to use with students at Edgewood. With this program students can download their photos, music, and videos to create awesome projects including iDVDs, slideshows, podcasts, music videos, and documentaries. All of these media files can be easily accessed within this one integrated multimedia software package. Get this…our newest Macs can actally run Mac OSX or Windows because they come with an intel processor and a specially purchased program called Parallels. The user can switch between platforms when needed for specific tasks or software. Computers continue to be a tool that enhance the learning experience at Edgewood. We want our students to be able to make informed decisions about platform, software and other media tools that best communicate their message or story. Much of our district training is windows-based so this blog will be dedicated to share technology tips and tricks for the Mac and Mac related products. Hope you enjoy and find some useful tidbits along the way!
